Maintenance

Ordinary maintenance of our courts is quick and easy.

You only need to take the following four steps to make Red Plus courts ready for play:

Infill, when needed

The “indicator” that signals this type of operation is the emergence of the fiber above the ground (by a few millimetres); in this case, it is necessary to add Red Plus Final Clay.

This operation is carried out directly by the court manager and consists of spreading some bags of Red Plus clay on the court and then passing the appropriate brush over the entire court to distribute the clay evenly.

Check whether the coarser grained clay has moved to the edges of the court. This can only happen if the court is not watered uniformly and regularly; in this case you should bring the clay towards the centre of the court using the brush, distribute it uniformly and restore optimal wetting of the court.

Passage of the mat

It is important to use the appropriate mat or brush. The court must be brushed to evenly distribute the clay on the playing surface, possibly as per the pattern on the pitch.

It is necessary to use suitable equipment for this operation in order to bring the clay from the edges of the court towards the centre. Never remove the coarser grained clay accumulated on the edges of the court and make sure it is clean.

Cleaning of the lines

Lines should be cleaned before wetting the court.

Watering the court

The purpose of wetting is to keep the clay moist in order to ensure ideal playing conditions. The court must be watered according to daily needs and depending on the climatic conditions.

In summer it is best to water the court abundantly in the evening or early morning, avoiding the formation of puddles.

The wetting of the court must be constant and carried out regularly even in the absence of play.

Seasonal maintenance

Seasonal Maintenance should be carried out approximately after the first year since the installation of the court – which has in the meantime compacted – and includes:

PASSAGE OF BRUSH WITH HARMONIC STEEL BRISTLES

This operation allows you to aerate the court. In the most affected areas (e.g. the base line) pass the brush in a circular manner ideally drawing circles. This will avoid the formation of crust on the surface.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE CLAY USING A WOODEN CLAY SPREADER

If you move a significant part of the clay, it is advisable to use a wooden clay spreader to ensure its uniform distribution over the entire court. At the end of this operation, brush the court as described in Ordinary Maintenance under the heading PASSAGE OF THE MAT.

Extraordinary maintenance

Extraordinary maintenance must be carried out by your Red Plus contact person and includes:

  • REPLACEMENT OF WORN LINES
  • DECOMPACTION OF THE COURT IN THE AREA OF AND AROUND THE BASE LINES.

It is always recommended to use Red Plus products.
